I will be doing a book signing at Caribou Coffee, Lorton Marketplace on Saturday, March 9th from 11AM to 4PM. No charge, of course. I invite my neighbors to come by and say hello.
To avoid the inevitable disaster that would be another marathon road trip, I drove from KC to Columbus, then home the next day. Funnily enough, I drove through another blinding snow storm in the heights east of Columbus, which followed me all the way to West Virginia and turned to rain part way through Maryland. The last hundred or so miles were actually in sunshine. Nice homecoming that.
Can't say enough nice things about the staff at Hastings. Here's a shout out to Rochelle, Bev, BJ, and Kyleigh. I would love to do it again. If any of my new friends are reading this, ping me anytime. You know where to find me. ;) Crash is at his post. Expect today to be a bit slower, but enthusiasm reigns. To any of my St. Joseph friends who read this, please come by if just to say "hello" and we'll have a splendid chat. ;)
The people at Hastings are the bomb. When I arrived this morning, they had a table set up with my poster and a pile of my inventory marked for sale. I parked right at the entrance, which means I smiled and greeted the customers. Sold about a dozen soft covers and a couple of hardbacks. Not bad considering the vast majority of traffic was for videos and games. The best part was chatting with all the friendly folk who stopped by. St. Joe is home and always will be. Back at it tomorrow. I can't wait.
Just had a very pleasant conversation with a nice lady who used to live near Krug Park at the time the of Never's setting. She bought one! I'll be signing it after she's checks out. Hope springs eternal and all that rot.
1133.8 miles in 16 hours by car. That was a personal best, but I wouldn't recommend the experience. Leaves one a bit ragged out.j
Met with the very nice manager of the Hastings bookstore, Rochelle Greenwood. If you're in the neighborhood, please drop in. After 18 years of doing things right they've the only bookseller that's survived the crap economy. I'll be at the front at noon on Saturday and Sunday, like a greeter, and doing my usual glad-handing and hamming it up. We'll see how it goes. Wish me luck. More as it develops... Hello, folks. I'm hitting the road Wednesday and traveling to Saint Joseph for my book signings. Please drop by if you can. I'd love to chat with my homies.
